THE MISSION OF CROSSROADS
To introduce the lost to Jesus Christ and to guide them toward community, spiritual maturity, and full participation in the life of the church. Luke 19:10, Matthew 28:18-20
VISION FOR CROSSROADS
Our vision is to be a community where all people are loved and accepted in the name of Jesus Christ. Together, in obedience to Christ, using the Spiritual Gifts given to us by God, we will strive to share the Good News of Christ with those who attend our church, those in our community, and throughout the world. Our goal is for people to become “new creations” in Christ, 2 Cor. 5:17, to be discipled through worship, service, teaching, and small group fellowship, Acts 2:42, and to be equipped to become ambassadors for Christ in their worlds of influence. 2 Cor. 5:20.
The Great Commandment was given by Jesus in response to a question. Jesus was asked to identify the most important commandment. He responded by saying, “Here is the entire Old Testament in a nutshell. All the Law and all the Prophets can be condensed into two tasks: Love God with all your heart, and love your neighbour as yourself.”
Later, in some of his last words to his disciples, Jesus gave the Great Commission to them and assigned them three more tasks: Go make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to obey everything he had taught.
PRAISE
Worship. Corporate and private worship of God our King. Col.1:18
The purpose of the church begins with the recognition that we do not belong to ourselves that we are the temples of the Holy Spirit, having been purchased by the death of Jesus Christ. Christ is head of the body called the church. God appointed Him head over everything and we exalt Him because He alone is Lord.
By believing in Him we have life in His name as we seek to follow His will as revealed in scripture.
PRACTICE
Ministry. We demonstrate God’s love with compassion and justice as we serve our King. Gal. 6:10
As well as telling the good news of the gospel, we believe that the church is to be actively involved in our community showing the love of God in practical ways. We believe that we have been entrusted with a ministry of compassion and that Christ has equipped us and sent us to live as a witness to His goodness both in how we speak and what we do. By living as God wants us to live, always doing what is right and good, especially in our Christian family, we act as a conscience to the world. We live out what we believe by being generous, kind, helpful, honest and fair.
PROCLAIM
Evangelism and Outreach. Bringing “lost people” to meet our King. Matt. 28:19-20
The purpose of our Evangelism and Outreach Ministry at Crossroads is to equip and mobilize believers to intentionally reach out, with genuine love and concern, to lost people with the Good News of Christ.
Evangelism is the goal of the whole church and will be integrated into all aspects of church life. Every believer, relying on Christ, and using their unique style of evangelism, needs to be involved in personal and church wide efforts to reach lost people for Christ.
PARTICIPATE
Fellowship and Community. We incorporate God’s family into our Church Community. Acts 4:32-35
We believe in fellowship, participating with each other in the family of God. The church has the privilege of welcoming and integrating all who voluntarily choose to associate with it and support its vision. We believe in seeking to understand people and their needs, both within the church and in the community, so that we can respond to these needs, in a culturally relevant manner.
PREPARE
Discipleship and Edification. Building a strong relationship with God our King. 1 Cor. 12:12-14
A primary goal of our church is the life-transformation of each of its members. We support our church body and its individuals by strong Bible teaching and training in discipleship and personal evangelism. We are committed to one another, sharing in the up building of our church body and the bearing of each other’s temporal and spiritual burdens. We encourage one another in the development and use of each others abilities, knowing that we are to be a harmonious structure knit together and growing toward full maturity in love.
